IDC Designer Of The Week: Ulf Moritz


Ulf Moritz graduated as a textile designer in 1960 from Krefelds Textilingenieurschule in Germany. After working at the de Ploeg weavery for many years, Ulf Moritz established his own design studio in Amsterdam in 1970. He mainly works in the fields of textile and interior design, he is planning showrooms and architectural projects including exhibition design. From 1971 to 2004, he was head of the department Man and Identity at the Design Academy Eindhoven.
Ulf Moritz, has created fabrics and carpets for Intair, Interlübke and MID and developed furniture for Montis, Felice Rossi and Team by Wellis.
Since 1986, a yearly textile collection Ulf Moritz by Sahco has been released. His fabrics, as well as his wallpaper collections Ulf Moritz by Marburg had won awards and have been distributed the world over
The designer who was given the honorary title of Royal Designer for Industry by the Royal society of Arts in London, has been developing carpets for Danskina and is art director and designer for Vorwerk. In 2008, he launched a tile collection with the Italian company Viva.
